Career Description

This position is responsible to assist in controlling expenses; provide for the compliance and coordination of the federal meat inspection and OSHA requirements; interpret and enforce company policies; assist in the determination of manpower needs and makes recommendations; prepare and maintain prescribed records and reports to ensure that they reflect conditions accurately; solve problems in an effective manner with sound follow up; work with GPM(s) and Supervisors to meet production, quality, yields, and goals, while at the same time ensuring the maintenance of labor standards and quality of performance and product; inspect and maintain a high degree of competence in the areas of housekeeping, safety, sanitation, and security; fill in for supervisor level positions in area(s) of assigned responsibilities and as necessary for General Production Manager(s) of assigned area(s). REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School diploma with equivalent experience or college degree preferred. Experience: 2 + years management level experience preferably in a meat processing/slaughter facility; and knowledge of OSHA, USDA and HAACP regulations. Relative experience will be considered a factor when qualifying candidates. Computer Skills: Standard computer skills. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Travel: 0-10% Supervisory Responsibilities: In the absence of the GPM manage subordinate supervisors who supervise team members in the plant; carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws; interview, hire, and train team members; plan, assign, and direct work; monitor and appraise work performance; reward, coach, counsel and discipline team members; address complaints and resolve problems. Will be assigned direct supervisory responsibility of hourly team members as scheduled by GPM or APM in area(s) when supervisors are either in training or absent from work. Special Skills: none required Other Requirements: Lead people by example, accept and delegate responsibility, display sound judgment and decision making skills; problem solve in an efficient manner with sound follow up; strong managerial skills necessary; excellent safety and attendance records. Must be willing to participate in the Pipeline Management Program, completing assignments as scheduled.
