SUMMARY: This position will report to the Director of Grain Merchandising in a supporting role merchandising physical corn and feed grains for rail delivery to Tyson Feed Mills.
Responsibilities include: Managing the purchase-to-pay process for feed grains in the assigned areas, contracting with vendors and retailers of grain for rail delivery, securing supplies forward of spot delivery for feed mills and managing inventory levels at assigned feed mills, executing hedges related to forward purchases of grain. Maintaining comprehensive understanding of rail transportation for grain shipment and keep abreast of transportation rates to make effective decisions involving procurement and logistics.
Other duties include: Develop and maintain daily corn bid sheets; coordinate deliveries with the Manager of Commodity Transportation; approve transactions and enter contracts in the portal and Tyson's system of record, review and utilize market reports, hedge purchases and maintain position reports for those purchases. Collect market intelligence, communicate viewpoints of physical and futures markets, supply and demand, short and long-term price drivers to grain procurement team. Providing input on grain procurement strategies and program execution. Develop and maintain relationships with feed grain rail suppliers.

Education: Bachelor degree or equivalent experience. Degree in Ag Business, Ag Economics, Production Agriculture or other related disciplines preferred.

Experience: 2 years' experience in agribusiness required. 5 years total related experience in economics of purchasing and transporting of grain and grain products preferred.

Computer Skills: Preference given to those with experience in SAP, Endur, Right Angle or similar related ERP software. Preference given to those with experience in Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, Outlook, Access and One Note.

Special Skills: Knowledge of merchandising practices and flexible contract pricing methods; ability to address groups and give presentations; understand rail transportation logistics with the ability to work with a wide variety of teams and suppliers. Ability to work and concentrate in a trading room environment including noise and distractions required. Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers and various business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
