SUMMARY: This position designs and initiates complex layouts for projects, develop scopes of work and writes specifications for proposals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This person should be capable of providing effective project management from inception through construction and installation. On assigned projects, the position shall organize the design resources; supervise design, specification and procurement and coordinate the company's objectivesregarding capacity, operability, economics and timelines. This person will also be involved in the selection of approved contractors and will decide which systems are best suited for a specific application and how they are to be installed.Additional responsibilities include: Be familiar with OSHA regulations and by working with Safety Coordinators, become familiar with Tyson's safety regulations; provide engineering design for new projects and utility systems; help conduct annual boiler inspections (if applicable), compressed air, heat exchanger, drying equipment, hydraulic, ventilation, hot water, cold water, air scrubbing, odor control system inspections; write comprehensive reports recommending design considerations, stand-by recommendations, repair or replacement activities and code compliance issues. The position should have a working knowledge of applicable codes that pertain to development of Mechanical Engineering standards to coordinateproject design work including planning, design calculations, flow sheets, mechanical layouts, piping diagram, electrical, insulation, etc. Position will interact with other engineering disciplines, maintain current project knowledge of project cost and assumes responsibility for project cost management; will consult with accounting personnel relative to project accounting procedures and project costs.


Education: B.S. in Engineering or equivalent engineering experience; registration (by examination) as a Professional Engineer desired.

Experience: 3+ years' applicable engineering experience or completion of an Engineering internship or Coop.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Computer Skills: Knowledge and use of computer programs, spreadsheet, database and scheduling programs. Microsoft exposure preferred.

Specific Skills: Capable of working on multi-faceted projects of any magnitude while requiring limited supervision; demonstrated ability to complete complex projects on time and on budget; good knowledge of a variety of the Mechanical Engineering disciplines concepts, practices, and procedures.

Travel: Frequent travel is involved up to 50%.
