This position designs and initiates complex layouts for projects, develops scopes of work and writes specifications for proposals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This person should be capable of providing effective project management from project inception through construction and installation. On assigned projects, the Senior Project Engineer shall organize the design resources; supervise the design efforts, generate specifications, coordinate procurement and achieve the company's objectives regarding capacity, operability, economics and timelines. This person will also be involved in the selection of approved contractors, and will decide which systems are best suited for a specific application and how they are to be installed. Additional duties and responsibilities include: Be familiar with OSHA regulations and by working with Safety Coordinators, become familiar with Tyson's safety regulations; provide engineering design for new projects and utility systems. The Senior Project Engineer should have a working knowledge of applicable codes that pertain to development of Mechanical Engineering standards; coordinates project design work including planning, design calculations, flow sheets, Mass Balance review and validation, mechanical layouts, piping diagrams, electrical, insulation, etc. The engineer will interact with other engineering disciplines; and maintain current project knowledge of project cost and assumes responsibility for project cost management. The engineer will consult with accounting personnel relative to project accounting procedures and project costs. This person will also interact and coordinate project activities with all levels of Operations and Engineering management.

REQUIREMENTS: Education: B.S. in Engineering or equivalent engineering or project management experience.

Experience: 5+ years applicable Engineering or project management experience with a minimum of 3 years' experience in the food industry preferred.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Computer Skills: Knowledge and use of computer programs, spreadsheet, database andscheduling programs. Microsoft exposure preferred.

Special Skills: Capable of working on multi-faceted projects of any magnitude while requiring limited supervision; Has demonstrated repeated ability to complete complex projects on time andon budget while achieving company objectives. Good knowledge of a variety of the Mechanical Engineering and Process Engineering disciplines concepts, practices, and procedures.

Travel: More than 50% travel.
