SUMMARY: This position is responsible for gathering and translating business requirements into detailed functional specifications, and/or functional specifications into technical specifications, and managing requests for changes to the specifications. This position provides expert participation and counsel to IS team members, project teams, and business customers on the most complex aspects of project definition, applications design, implementation, integration, cost estimation, standardization, and support. The position is conversant with current and future IS application architecture and with emerging technologies.

Responsibilities include:
  • Act as liaison between the business and IS
  • Perform all duties associated with the project lifecycle and application portfolio management
  • Conduct team member training
  • Provide on-call support and problem resolution for software applications
  • Act as catalyst to implement strategic and tactical solutions consistent with the goals of the business
  • Assist in developing system/application architecture
  • Lead and participate in the development of complex system designs across multiple business applications
  • Validate enterprise system functional and/or technical designs to ensure solutions correspond to strategic direction
  • Lead cross functional meetings, functional and technical specifications reviews, and application code reviews
  • Provide IS and the business with technical direction and advise on technology and process improvement; ensure assigned project deliverables stay within stated timelines, scope, and costs
  • Will sometimes be responsible for the development of project plans / schedule
  • Provide management with accurate and timely status reports of all projects as assigned
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of System Life Cycle deliverables and coding standards
  • Other duties as needed


Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other technical area. Equivalent work experience may be acceptable.

Experience: 6+ years of experience in Information Systems or related area with proven analysis experience Computer Skills: Extensive understanding of business process design and experience using and building a System Development Lifecycle Methodology; significant experience designing, building, and implementing enterprise level solutions; ability to create, analyze, and evaluate information systems proposals; Extensive knowledge of relevant multi-user computer systems, applications, and/or equipment; knowledge of current technology developments and trends; experience developing and executing integrated test plans; practical project management capabilities and a demonstrated ability to develop good working relationships with business area management and other team members.

Communication Skills: Above average verbal and written skills; ability to communicate technical solutions to non-technical team members; experience providing constructive feedback to other team members.

Travel: Some travel may be required. Amount of travel will be determined by individual project requirements.

Job Specific Skills: 6+ years’ experience as an SAP Basis Administrator installing and managing both ABAP and Java systems. Experience leading SAP Basis cross-functional projects. OSS Note, and patch dissemination, recommendation, and implementation. Experience working in a SOX regulated environment. Experience applying an understanding of database, operating system, and infrastructure in troubleshooting issues, performance management, and implementing changes. Experience leading Enhancement Pack and Service Pack projects. Experience automating tasks and processes for improved efficiency and proactive management of SAP performance and availability. Experience with ALE/IDOC distribution models, design, and troubleshooting of all components: inbound/outbound TRFCs/QRFCs, partner profiles. Strong experience with system refreshes across multiple landscapes (ECC BW, etc), involving dual-stack systems. Experience working in an N+1, N+2 SAP landscape configuration. Strong experience with performance tuning/analysis of SAP ABAP-based software like ERP/ECC, using tools like STAD, ST12, and /SDF/MON.

Preferred Skills: Experience with Netweaver 7.x and proficiency with both (ABAP AS and JAVA AS) SAP stacks. Experience with the following: S/4, ECC 6, BW 7.3+, HANA, SRM, PI/PO, SLT, Solution Manager 7.1/7.2, Trexx, ADS, GTS, Enterprise Portal. Experience with SAP refresh orchestration software. Basis/operational tasks across multiple SAP landscapes. Experience with SAP ChaRM process. Experience with SAP in the cloud (AWS). Experience with Unix operating systems and performance analysis. Experience with Oracle database systems and understanding SQL statement optimizer plans. Unix administration experience. Database administration experience. ABAP and/or Java development experience. Experience mentoring junior team members.
