Career Description

This position is responsible for operating machinery and could include ongoing production flow while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.


This position reports to the Planning Supervisor, and is the principal contact between the maintenance department and those requesting work. The primary responsibility of the Planner is to ensure that work is prioritized and job plans are developed for all non-emergency work so that maintenance can provide prompt, efficient, and cost-effective support of site equipment and assets.


This position works safely and promotes a safety culture by leading 5S implementations, completing documents and promotes peer to peer interventions, and by creating, reviewing, and updating the safety steps on job plans. This position also plans all non-emergency work for assigned areas of responsibility by leading implementation of predictive strategies such as thermography and vibration analysis, receives work orders for non-emergency work PM (preventative maintenance) and CM (corrective maintenance) from Megamation and maintenance supervisors, and reviews and screens each work request to see that it has been properly filled out with a clear description, priority and adequate detail to properly determine the scope of the project. Additional tasks include prioritizing work orders, assuring that the work requested is needed and is the best solution. If the need is questioned and not readily resolved with production supervision or the work requester, routes the work request for an additional approval process, examines jobs to be done, determines scope and identifies the best way to accomplish the work, determines resources needed to complete each work order (parts, maintenance labor skills, tools and information LOTO procedu
