Career Description

This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance and necessary repairs on vehicles and equipment while complying with Department of Transportation rules and regulations, maintaining a safe work environment, and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.


Diagnose failures of vehicles and disassemble, repair and reassemble parts as necessary. Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles. Maintain and repair all fleet equipment. Maintain vehicle records as required, both on paper and computerized. Fill out necessary documents legibly and maintain DOT records daily. Communicate with drivers to diagnose malfunction. Must be able to repair heavy duty trucks (tractor-trailers, brakes, tires, engines for 18 wheelers) and forklifts. Clean up tools, parts and the truck shop including spills. Maintain compliance with OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Must have a valid license to drive. Must be able to drive tractors with or without trailers into and out of the truck shop and on the grounds. Must be able to read and understand service manuals. Must have own hand tools (sets of wrenches, sockets, pliers and screwdrivers).
