Job Summary:

This position is responsible for leading and directing multiple teams of Project Engineers, Reliability Engineers and Discipline Engineers to provide engineered solutions and technical expertise to achieve business, financial, and strategic objectives. Other responsibilities include: establish and maintain corporate design guidelines, develop facility improvement strategies and plans that meet established business objectives; complete process bid package (scope, equipment matrix, and drawings); provide technical resources to guide and assist facility based engineering and maintenance; provide engineering assessments in support of Merger and Acquisition activities; identify and evaluate new technologies for potential use in core business processes; have and develop qualified and effective team members in all positions.

Responsible for developing and implementing corporate Reliability program. Establish overall Prepared Foods Reliability metrics and objectives in collaboration with manufacturing operations leadership and provide overall communications and reporting. Build inclusive working relationships, best practice identification / sharing and technical support structure with maintenance manager network.
This position will be supported by Associate Directors, Senior Managers, Engineers and other technical positions as direct and indirect reports. This position will be responsible for managing an annual capital budget between $100 to $150 MM for corporate warehousing projects and manufacturing facility infrastructure.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain, implement and report capital projects for entire warehousing/transportation network.
  • Direct the management of corporate initiated warehousing/transportation capital projects.
  • Develop and implement facility infrastructure maintenance & improvements projects.
  • Key role in development and implementation of manufacturing facility infrastructure support planning.
  • Source and identify new equipment opportunities for utility systems and methods of construction / materials for building infrastructure.
  • Source and identify new external engineering, construction management and construction resources.
It is the responsibility of this position to establish, maintain, and coordinate policies, standards, specifications, and practices that support and enhance the company’s objectives. This position must interact with a broad section of the industry not only at the plant level but including government, vendor, and industry representatives.

This position must review corporate engineering generated Capital Expenditure Requests for content, scope, legitimacy, and accuracy and make recommendations regarding the request.
This position will play a key role in implementing change within the organization, both from the technology standpoint and, also a procedural one, in support of the company’s goals and objectives while operating at the highest ethical standards.

Services both internal and external customers. Close working relationships with both Transportation & Warehousing and Manufacturing Operations leadership teams at VP/Director levels. Cross functional collaboration across multiple functional areas including Trans & Warehousing, Mfg Operations, Supply Planning, Food Safety & Quality Assurance, Safety, Environmental, Finance, Procurement and Continuous Improvement.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil) or other related field. Master’s degree in Engineering or Business desirable. PE desirable.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years work experience in food processing industry and 3 years of managing technical/engineering staff and capital projects of $ 25 MM+. Must have experience in food industry. Direct maintenance management experience desirable. Must have knowledge of financial indicators / analysis and experienced in capital planning, fixed asset management and budget development / management.

Computer Skills: Basic personnel computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project and Power Point. Familiarity with Auto Cad.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Supervisory: Supported by team of 10 to 15 direct and indirect reports. Must have ability to work autonomously given strategic vision, high level objectives and wide guardrails. Requires ability to function with high level direction and communicate throughout organization.

Travel: 25-50% @ corporate headquarter(s)
50-75% @ manufacturing facilities, equipment vendors
Overseas travel required at minimal frequency.

Special Skills: Position requires ability to make decisions effecting financial and operational performance. Must have ability to handle high information and project load. Requires review and analysis of technical information including drawings, specifications, technical reports, engineering data, etc.

The successful candidate can be based out of Fayetteville, AR, Chicago, IL, or Cincinnati, OH corporate locations.
