The Sr. Finance Manager position is responsible for providing oversight and management towards the finance and analytics processes across Shopper Marketing. Financial management requires experience with the following: journal entry review; invoicing policies and procedures; monthly and quarterly budget reconciliation and analysis; monthly and quarterly close processes; ROI and other analytical tools.

The position requires a high level of organization, flexibility and collaboration to work cross-functionally with the shopper marketing team, brand and business unit teams, finance teams, accounts payable teams, sales teams, and agency partners. The shopper marketing team is fast paced and the Sr. Finance Manager will need to be flexible with the multiple changes and updates that occur with the budget on a monthly basis.

This position reports to the Director of Shopper Marketing and has 2 direct reports. There will also be some exposure to Director and VP levels.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Provide oversight and management for the total shopper marketing budget through monthly, quarterly and year end reconciliations
  • Lead monthly financial meetings with Business Unit Finance Directors by providing budget updates
  • Manage the financial and analytical reporting cadence for financials and shopper marketing programs performance
  • Participate in annual and quarterly planning meetings
  • Manage sales trade funds
  • Lead the process for continuous improvement for Shopper Marketing finance and analytics

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree is required in an academic field directly related and essential to the finance skill set required. Requires an understanding of different business models (one is fixed budget, one is based on accruals that fluctuates frequently during the fiscal year).

Experience: 7+ years of experience; preferably on manufacturer-side and with a branded, consumer-goods company, or combination of supplier-side and manufacturer-side experience. Food industry experience is a plus. Solid demonstration of financial acumen, management skills, interpersonal skills, a total business orientation and an ability to thrive in a multitasking environment. High level of collaboration and flexibility.

System & Computer Skills: Requires advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, specifically excel (pivot tables, creating templates, macros), and Power Point. Access knowledge is not required, but would be beneficial. Proficient systems knowledge to include but not limited to SAP and COGNOS.

Communication Skills: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position must possess the ability to communicate with upper level management, across brand teams and business units and sales teams.

Special Skills: Must work well in a team environment and extensively collaborative with brand teams, finance teams, and agency partners.

Travel: 3-4 domestic trips per year.

Preferred Qualifications: MBA preferred or the equivalent in a related field (business or social sciences). Exposure to the CPG food industry.
