SUMMARY: This position's primary responsibility is to architect, develop, oversee and provide expert technical direction for the building of machine learning pipelines, and their integration into business processes that drive value for Tyson Foods. This individual's principal goals are to develop, integrate, and manage scalable machine learning pipelines for each department and to attain all IT service level agreements for the user community within the organization. The lead will plan and provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations. This position will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective solutions for all aspects of the organization's machine learning initiatives. This person will also help to define and implement IT policies, standards, procedures, and best practices in the area of machine learning. Provide technical direction and recommendations to team members and IS management around architecture, implementation, and support of machine learning solutions. Educate fellow team members on best practices, theory, and practical application of statistical learning techniques. Recommend and develop plans for machine learning development and operations; hardware, software and equipment purchases. Negotiate with technical personnel and customers for services, products and direction. Review and advise groups in the selection, usage and maintenance of machine learning solutions. Provide direction to the vendors and stay current on the latest technologies of the systems supported by the organization to assist in the future planning of necessary IT initiatives; other duties as assigned.


Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Information Systems or other technical area. Equivalent work experience may be acceptable

Experience: 6+ years of experience in Information Systems or related area with proven experience implementing statistical and machine learning solutions

Computer Skills: Developer/Sysadmin-level understanding of OS, Networking

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience communicating technical information to non-technical team members

Special Skills: Supervised and unsupervised learning knowledge, including but not limited to linear, logistic regression, linear discriminant analysis, support vector machines, neural networks, splines, generally additive models, bagging, boosting, random forests, non-parametric techniques. Experience with convex optimization. Experience optimizing models with regularization/other techniques. Experience assessing model accuracy and measuring the quality of fit with cross validation/other techniques. Experience using statistical/ML tools such as R, Scikit-Learn, AWS ML, TensorFlow, SparkML/MLIB, or similar, with preferred experience in scalable frameworks. Experience programming in Python, R, Scala, Node.JS, Swift/Objective C, Java, or Android SDK. Relational algebra/SQL. Cloud
