Career Description

Summary: Requisitions, stores, and issues spare parts & tools for industrial equipment by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Requisitions inventory or repair items as determined by reorder levels or as needed.

• Reads shop manuals to ascertain type and specification of parts.

• Contacts vendors by phone or fax to obtain pricing, availability, of parts & places orders as needed.

• Compares invoices against requisitions to verify quality and quantity of merchandise received.

• Stores purchased parts in storeroom bins and issues parts to mechanics or production upon request. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds is required.

• Utilizes Computerized Maintenance Management System maintaining records of parts received and issued, and inventories parts in storeroom periodically.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)& minimum of one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: E-mail, Order processing, Inventory, and/or Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
