Career Description

SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for hiring, training, monitoring, and administering the job duties for FSQA hourly personnel. This includes monitoring and maintaining Food/Safety Quality Assurance programs to verify that product specifications are met, communicating with all levels of management, customers, the USDA, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. This position also requires outlining product deficiencies and suggested corrections, tracking corrective actions to the customer, government, and FSQA inspections until discrepancies are resolved, and directing and scheduling laboratory and in-plant food safety/quality assurance testing as required. Other duties include assisting in the development of analytical skills used to evaluate problems and provide sound technical advice to resolve situations, document record keeping activities; monitor and insure compliance with plant HACCP and SSOP programs; and completing special projects as assigned by the FSQA Manager (i.e. tracking and trending, writing procedures, capability studies, records organization, computer application, and implementation), and performing other responsibilities as the need arises. This position is responsible for food safety, food quality, and legality.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:
Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:
One plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience andeducation. Ready to Eat Supervisory experience would be a plus.

Computer Skills:
Basic computer skills; for example, generating simple letters, spreadsheets, or creating simple queries.

Communication Skills:
Good written and verbal communication

Supervisory Skills:
This position is responsible for supervising a group of personnel who perform somewhat identical and related tasks or activities

Travel:
2 times a year.

Other:
Offset primary shift and occasionally working offshifts.

Position involves:
heavy lifting [70 lbs.]; Repetitive Motion of Upper Body and Limbs, Use of Fingers - dexterity and normal sensation required; both hands required; walking, prolonged standing, climbing stairs and vertical ladders; proper vision including but not limited to depth perception, normal color vision; ability to detect odors; working indoors and outdoors; excessive heat, cold, humidity, chilling, noise, slippery and uneven walking surfaces; working aroundmachinery with moving parts; working around moving objects or vehicles; working in close proximity to others; irregular hours of work; exposure to offensive odors and will be required to wear appropriate safety protection; reading and interpreting product specifications; functioning well under stress; flexibility to work where and when needed [throughout plant]; and all miscellaneous duties as assigned.
