Career Description

This position is responsible to inspect, patch, vulcanize, and test tires and tubes for Heavy equipment (Tractor Trailer Tires) while complying with Department of Transportation rules and regulations, maintaining a safe work environment, and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.


Tasks

Diagnose failures of vehicles and disassemble, repair and reassemble parts as necessary. Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles. Must be able to drive tractors with or without trailers into and out of the Truck Shop and on the grounds. Maintain vehicle records as required, both on paper and computerized. Maintain and repair all fleet equipment. Fill out all necessary documents legibly. Maintain D.O.T. records daily. Communicate with drivers to diagnose malfunction. Clean up tools, parts and the truck shop including spills. Maintain compliance with OSHA, D.O.T and EPA regulations. Must have a valid license to drive. Must have own hand tools (sets of wrenches, sockets, pliers and screw drivers). Must be able to read and understand service manuals. Must be able to repair heavy duty trucks (tractor-trailers, brakes, tires, engines for 18 wheelers). Must be able to repair forklifts. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Requirements

Previous experience working in a heavy duty truck shop preferred. Tyson rehire candidates have a minimum waiting period of 6 months from the most recent separation date. If termed at Tyson for the following, candidates will not be considered Attendance, job abandonment, rules of conduct, unsatisfactory probationary, walked off the job.
